文档基金会宣布LibreOffice 5.1.2发布，是开源办公套件LibreOffice 5.1第二维护版本。到目前为止，LibreOffice 5.1是有史以来最受欢迎的LibreOffice。
LibreOffice是一套免费的办公软件，共有六个应用程序供您使用，包括：Writer、Calc、Impress、Draw、Math、Base。LibreOffice是OpenOffice办公软件的衍生版，同样免费开源，但相比OpenOffice增加了很多特色功能。LibreOffice拥有强大的数据导入和导出功能，能直接导入PDF文档、微软Works、LotusWord，支持主要的OpenXML格式。软件本身并不局限于Debian和Ubuntu平台，支持windows、Mac、PRM package linux等多个系统平台。

在Windows操作系统上安装的软硬件要求如下：
Microsoft Windows XP SP3, Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, 或者 Windows 10；奔腾兼容PC (推荐 Pentium III, Athlon 或更新的CPU架构)；
256MB 内存 (推荐 512MB 以上）；
最低1.5 GB可用磁盘空间;
分辨率高于1024x768且支持超过256色的显示器（推荐使用更高分辨率）。
部分功能（不是全部）需要有Java运行时环境。Base数据库组件和宏功能必须有Java环境才能运行。
Apple - Mac OS X在 Apple Mac OS X 电脑上安装的软硬件要求如下：
Mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) 或更高；(4.4之后的版本。10.6请使用4.1~4.3版本，10.4请使用4.0版本)
Intel 处理器；
512MB RAM；
至少 800 MB 可用磁盘空间；
分辨率高于1024x768且支持超过256色的显示器（推荐使用更高分辨率）。
注意事项：
部分功能（不是全部）需要有Java运行时环境。Base数据库组件和宏功能必须有Java环境才能运行。关于Gatekeeper和OS版本问题的详细信息可以在文档基金会的Wiki中找到。
LibreOffice 4.3 仍然可以在OS X 10.6+ 系统上运行。但请注意该版本已于2015年5月27日结束支持，意味着您可以继续使用，但是TDF官方不再为该版本提供更新。
GNU/Linux
作为一般的原则，我们建议您通过您的特定Linux发行版推荐的方式安装LibreOffice (比如Ubuntu的软件中心)，因为一般情况下这是使得安装的软件与您的系统最佳集成的最简单方式。并且，很有可能在您安装Linux操作系统时LibreOffice默认就已经为您安装好了。
社区提供的安装包仅针对有特定需求的用户。
在Linux操作系统上安装的软硬件需求如下：
Linux 内核版本 2.6.18 或更高；glibc2 版本 2.5 或更高；
gtk+ 版本 2.10.4 或更高；
奔腾兼容PC (推荐 Pentium III, Athlon 或更新的CPU架构)；
256MB 内存 (推荐使用 512MB 以上的内存)；
最低 1.55 GB 可用磁盘空间；
1024x768 分辨率的 X 显示服务器（推荐使用更高分辨率），至少256色；
Gnome 2.16 或更高，且已安装了gail 1.8.6 和 at-spi 1.7 软件包（辅助功能技术需要这两个包），或者其他兼容的图形界面（比如KDE或者其它）

LibreOffice的特色1、LibreOffice支持导入SVG图片，并直接在文档中对其进行修改和编辑；
2、书页名（titlePage）的设置方法更简单，选项清晰且便于操作；
3、导航功能能够让用户在树状组织中点击打开某个文档；
4、Excel具备全部的常用功能，行数扩展到100万行；微软Work导入过滤器；
5、LotusWord导入过滤器；
6、支持众多扩展插件，可增加许多实用功能；
7、PPT组件页面布局；
8、允许对多个分表添加颜色以便标识；
