I think most of us expected it would be a success, but this big a success?
The Raspberry Pi has now sold 10 million units ― 5 million in the last 18 months alone
I’m talking about the Raspberry PI of course, the single-board computer thathas now sold over 10 million units since launching back in 2011.
In the same way that the smartphone has reshaped personal computing, so theRaspberry Pihas helped sire a new generation of hobbyist hardwarehackers, spur new innovations, and help to lower the barrier ofentry tothe (much-hyped) internet of things.
Although we don’t cover Raspberry Pi with any regularityon this site ― various Ubuntu-based distributions are available for the device, however― we couldn’t not tip our hat to its success.
The crazy thing is just how fast it’s reached 10 million. Last yearRaspberry Pi Foundation CEO Eben Upton announced that the little-board-that-couldhas sold 5 million units ― which means it’s sold another 5 million since!
