Hopefully, you are already usingTestTrack dashboards to better communicate with your team. Now, you have even more flexibility to customize your dashboard using note widgets.
Note widgets can display formatted text, images, and hyperlinks. They are easy to configure and have lots of options to display information how you want it to look.
Here are a few ideas to get you thinking about how you can use note widgets to share important information and resources on your dashboards.
Getting started information for new team membersNew team members may need help figuring out how to keep work flowing through TestTrack. Use note widgets to provide high-level help about important parts of your process and how TestTrack fits in. Here are some examples.
Links to TestTrack help topicsWhy re-create the wheel and write instructions on how to use TestTrack when we already did it for you? Add links to TestTrack help topics in a note widget to provide ‘how to’ information.

Hint: we make it easy for you to copy a help topic link. Click the link button in the help page toolbar and copy the link in the dialog box that opens. Then, paste it or add a link to text in the widget.

Workflow diagram
For the visual learners on your team, it may be helpful to explain your workflow using a diagram. No need to re-create a diagram―TestTrack does it for you! If you have security permissions to configure the workflow, open the Configure Workflow dialog box and click Diagram Workflow . Save the diagram and insert it in a note widget.

Links to other team and process documentation
You likely have a library of documentation outside of TestTrack that can help new team members. Add links to those resources in a note widget.
Hopefully, you have this information stored in a secure place, likeSurround SCM. You can easily copy link to repositories and files from Surround SCM and add them to a note widget. Just copy the address for a selected repository or file from the Address bar in Surround and then paste it or add a link to text in the widget.

Links to important sprint or release information
Give team members quick access to important resources in TestTrack related to your current sprint or release. Add links to requirement documents (functional designs, task lists, etc.), sprint folders, filtered list windows, and other things to a note widget and display the widget in a prominent place on a dashboard.
The ttstudio address for items, folders, list windows, and more is displayed in the Address bar. Select the area or item you want to link to, copy the address, then paste it or add a link to text in the widget.

Links to run reports in one click
Save yourself and other team members a few clicks and add links to frequently accessed reports in a note widget. No need to go to the Reports list window―just click the link to generate the report. Easy!
To get a link to a report, right-click it in the Reports list window, choose Copy Preview Report Hyperlink, and select ttstudio .

Paste the link in the widget or add a link to text in a widget.

Team contact information
Make it easy to find contact information for other team members. Add phone numbers and email addresses to a note widget so users can quickly contact someone without hunting through your company directory.

How to add a note widget
If you have an existing dashboard you want to add a note widget to:
Open the dashboard and click Dashboard in the upper-right corner of the window. Choose Edit Current Dashboard. Click Add Widget and select Note .If you just want to add a widget:
Choose Tools >Administration >Dashboards or Dashboard Widgets . If you can configure dashboards and widgets, the Configure Dashboards dialog box opens. Click Configure Widgets .If you can only configure widgets, the Configure Widgets dialog box opens. Click Add and select Note .Go here for detailed information about adding note widgets.
Remember, when you create a widget, you can limit the users who can see it by selecting security groups. Make sure the right team members are seeing information relevant to them so your dashboards are not cluttered or sensitive information is exposed.
Keep in mind that you can share widgets between different dashboards. Once you add a widget, you can add it to multiple dashboards. If you update it, the changes are applied to all dashboards it is shared with.
